EpoxySystems' #450MR

Polyurethane Coating for Mechanical Equipment Room Floors

This Material requires a minimum product purchase. Please see our Products That Require a Minimum Order Page, or contact Epoxy.com for more information.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Composition: Liquid-applied, single-component, moisture-cured, polyurethane deck covering system. All materials shall be delivered to the jobsite in unopened containers clearly marked and labeled. System consists of EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 base coat, EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #451 top coat, a primer where necessary and an aggregate, if desired for slip resistance.

Basic Uses: EPOXYSYSTEMS’ 450MR system provides a waterproof, elastomeric, traffic bearing deck coating. It is a monolithic system that incorporates excellent adhesion, flexibility, impact, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance. Physical stresses imposed by vibration of equipment will not cause delamination or rupture of the coating. The elastic properties of all system components enable the complete system to give and work with all but the most unusual movement of the floor or deck.

Limitations: Containers that have been opened must be used up within one or two days since it is a moisture-reactive material. It sets up when exposed to air. All surfaces must be completely free of foreign matter, and primed with EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRIMER #887 (CONCRETE), 889 (METAL), OR 888 (ALL PURPOSE) PRIMER(S) AS APPROPRIATE, where necessary. The finished coating system should not be subjected to direct heat radiation over 250°F (121OC) from burners, open flames or pipes. Baffles or heat shields should be installed, by others, where necessary.

Colors: Concrete Grey, Tan

Sizes: Available in 1 gallon cans, 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums. Weighs 10 lbs. per gallon (4.5 kg/gallon).

Standards: Complies with A.S.T.M. C-957-87

INSTALLATION

Surface Preparation: All surfaces which are to receive EPOXYSYSTEMS’ 450MR M.R. system shall be free of contamination such as water, curing compounds, hardeners, bond-breakers, paint, etc. A light broom-finish is recommended for concrete surfaces. It is desirable to water cure concrete in lieu of using curing compounds. Contaminants should be removed by sandblasting or dust free grinding. Except for non-moving shrinkage cracks, all other cracks and joints must be sealed with EpoxySystems’ Product #905, a single-component, moisture-cured sealant. All surfaces must be primed with EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRIMER #887 (CONCRETE), 889 (METAL), OR 888 (ALL PURPOSE) PRIMER(S) AS APPROPRIATE prior to application of the coating system at a rate of 300-350 square feet per gallon (7.3-8.6 m2/liter).

Application: EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 shall be applied to the primed surface at a rate of 40-45 square feet per gallon (1.0-1.1 m2/liter) resulting in a 30 dry mil (.76mm) thickness.

After a minimum cure time of 24 hours, EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #451 shall be applied at the rate of 115 feet per gallon (3.0 m2/liter), resulting in a 10 dry mil (.25mm) thickness. The aggregate (No. 20 mesh) is broadcast into the EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #451 membrane at the desired rate, and back-rolled, if any slip resistance is needed.

The completed coating system shall not be subject to any pedestrian traffic during the first 24 hours after the application has been completed, nor to any heavy traffic of pedestrians during the first four days after application.

PRODUCT WARRANTY

All products proven to be defective in manufacture will be replaced at no charge. Since the use of these products is beyond our control we cannot accept damage in excess of the purchase price of these products.

MAINTENANCE

If EPOXYSYSTEMS’ 450MR. is damaged, it can be repaired by cleaning the surface with M.E.K. and recoating it with the 450MR system.
